“I discovered the same thing Gram Parsons did, that soul music and country music are practically identical. Based off of the same chord structures, and the songs are of heartache and loss. The main connection is they both came up in church.”
– Justin Townes Earle
We sat down recently and spoke with Lynda Lucas, a Dublin-based singer-songwriter and one of the key figures behind the “Gram Parsons 70th Birthday Bash”, taking place Wednesday 2nd November at the Sugar Club Dublin.
The gig is a tribute to the great Gram Parsons, a country singer who had an enormous influence on both Country and Rock music, despite tragically dying at the young age of 26.
In this episode, Lynda talks about Gram and the important legacy he left behind. She also tells us about the Dublin tribute gig, which is one of several taking place around the world to celebrate what would have been Gram’s 70th birthday on 5th November 2016.
